How to Register & Book a UCAT Test

Step 1: Visit the UCAT Website and create an account from 13th May (UK Students). New candidates must create a UCAT account before they can book a test.

Step 2: Book a Test — available from 17th June for UK Candidates.

Step 3: Prepare, prepare, prepare — consider enrolling in a UCAT preparation course with Bell the UCAT.

Step 4: Sit for your Test — Smash it! The very best to you!

When should I book the test?

This is one of the key decisions in your UCAT preparation journey — choosing your Test Date. The only question you need to ask yourself: Are you at peak performance and preparation level?

Some candidates rush to book at the earliest possible date. Check if you are exam-ready in terms of your preparation and performance in UCAT Mocks. Myth buster: a high UCAT score is unlikely to be achieved with only 2 or 3 weeks of preparation.

At the other end, do not book too late either. Booking near the end of the Testing cycle leaves little room to reschedule if needed.

What is a Good UCAT Score?

Any score in excess of 2800 (based on UCAT scores up to 2024) immensely increases your probability of receiving an interview call.

  • Most universities set a threshold for the Total Overall UCAT Score (varies year to year).
  • Some look for above-par scores in specific sub-sections (VR, DM, Quant or SJ).
  • Many universities use a points-based system combining UCAT score, A-Level and GCSE grades.
  • Majority of high-ranking universities require a convincing UCAT Score of 2800 or above.

Our UCAT preparation courses are designed to help you hit and exceed this target.

When should I start preparing for UCAT?

The sooner the better! The minimum recommended time for intensive UCAT preparation is 6 to 8 weeks. You might hear stories of people cracking UCAT with 2 weeks — these are outliers.

  • Most candidates have never been tested with 184 questions in 111 minutes.
  • Time pressure is a big game changer — a ticking clock adds significant pressure.
  • Reading speed differs between online digital format and paper-based tests.

Our UCAT online courses will teach you how to handle clock pressure effectively.

What if I am Re-Taking UCAT?

There is added pressure but also a big edge over first-timers. You have the experience of what went wrong in your first attempt — use that to your advantage. Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses. You should be aiming for nothing less than 2800 this time.

Bell the UCAT’s UCAT preparation courses are particularly effective for re-takers — we focus on strategy, speed and mental conditioning.
